Interview with Monica Galan, SPEAKER, COACH AND TRAINER OF MOTIVATION AND LEADERSHIP

"Generate An Impact From The First Moment"

Monica Galán, an esteemed speaker, coach, and trainer specialising in verbal and non-verbal communication, sheds light on the growing importance of online communication, especially in corporate environments. As the digital era reshapes workplace dynamics, Galán emphasizes that individuals must adapt to this medium to succeed.

"I believe there are no small voices; rather, at times, our own voices have been diminished by our circumstances."

Galán notes a significant cultural shift within companies, citing Microsoft's example of prioritizing effective presenters over seniority. This evolution highlights the increasing value placed on communication skills in the corporate world. In this context, being able to deliver a compelling presentation has become a critical asset.

According to Galán, the way a speech begins is crucial. The opening moments are when nerves are high, and the audience's attention is at its peak. She stresses the importance of meticulous preparation and refined delivery techniques. However, she also underscores the need for authenticity in communication, advising individuals to stay true to themselves.

"Authenticity in communication is key."

To help speakers organize their ideas effectively, Galán introduces

the BRAVO method. This acronym stands for Bienvenida (Welcome), Relevancia (Relevance), Apreciación (Appreciation), Valor (Value), and Oportunidad (Opportunity). The BRAVO method
encourages speakers to select and arrange their ideas with the audience in mind, ensuring a strong impact and capturing their attention from the outset.

Galán highlights the importance of emotion in enhancing memory retention during communication.
She advocates for incorporating humour to make speeches more interactive and engaging, thereby keeping the audience lively and attentive.

A passionate advocate for women's empowerment, Galán leverages her books to address the challenges women face in expressing themselves confidently.
She emphasises the importance of generating opportunities for women to voice their messages and change the prevailing narrative. Since the emergence of online learning, there has been a discussion on whether online classes are better than traditional classes.

"When are you going to use your voice for what it’s worth?"

Galán points out a stark statistic and says, “The number of female speakers, analysed during in 7-10 years, and how many of those female speakers were less than 40 years old? Less than 40 years old was 2%”. She calls for a shift in these numbers, urging women to seize opportunities and communicate their messages more effectively.

Monica Galán's journey in mastering effective communication serves as an inspiration for others. Her teachings and methods provide valuable tools for individuals looking to enhance their communication skills. The question she leaves her audience with is poignant: When are you going to use your voice for what it’s worth?
